- Your son will fulfil the prophecies you've dreamed of and hoped for.

- Maybe Gabriel's just brimming over with joy and praise while he makes these announcements.

- 'For nothing will be impossible with God.'

- How much Mary is loved and favoured is wonderful - she's a young girl from Galilee, and she's favoured and chosen and beloved and honoured.

- The child being holy because it's not born of sexual union is possibly :/?

- Wait, some authorities attribute the Magnificat to Elizabeth???

- Mary's wonderful prayer about God turning everything upside down and lifting up the lowly and feeding the hungry because They chose the poor to carry and look after Their son, God chose to exalt the lowly and make them so honoured. The barren woman and the woman who will seem like she conceived out of wedlock, the oppressed nation, the people in the most despised town of that nation, and a poor couple at that.

- I think God does more than just honour/affirm, God flips the system upside down and makes things right, but.

- 'to give knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins' is interesting phrasing. I'm not sure if it's just phrased in a way I don't get, or if it means that forgiveness of sins is meant to show you what salvation means, and what that would mean if it were the case. I tend to think of salvation as freedom from sin, of transformation to being like God and living in his kingdom and geez I never explain this well.
