- Now kind of wondering if the focus on Israel here - 'lost sheep of Israel', 'as the Gentiles do' - is because Matthew was writing for a Jewish audience.

- Oh, I never really realised that there was this whole part in the story of Jesus where the disciples left him and went from town to town.

- I also never realised that the Beelzebul verse was referring to Jesus/persecution.

- Oh, the painfully challenging 'not worthy of me' verses.

- Jesus showing his disciples love is wonderful (the sparrows verses), but it's so weird to have love amidst all the terrifying aspects. I don't know if it was as terrifying/challenging to them (probably, but possibly not in a 'you will go to Hell' way, more a 'terrible things happen when you sin/leave' way).

- And the whispering verse - does that mean Jesus was sharing things with them in secret and then telling them to proclaim them when he sent them out? It's so interesting to think what his life was actually like. (Incidentally, midrash all the midrash. Unless that's appropriative in context.)

- The 'actual Jesus feels' tag is kind of pointless once you get to the gospels, but...I think I was thinking more about 'wow Jesus' life' than usual?
